Hey All
Just found this forum, and recently retired.
I have gone fishing from time to time over my lifetime but always worked to much to get serious. My wife and I bought a small place in northern Wisconsin a few years ago. We have spent most of the time, up until now fixing things up and cleaning. We bought it cheap enough but it was filthy and in disrepair. Now that I'm retired the plan is to fish early and late in the day, and do more repairs in between. Really looking forward to fishing this fall when the colors are on.
Like I said I haven't fished much, but have had the good fortune to go once with a couple of friends and catch our limit of nice crappie. We cleaned them and had supper as soon as we limited out. I have never before or since had such a good fish meal. I hope to recreate that.
I hope to be able to get pointers as how to improve my skills and learn from you all how to be fairly confident that when I go out I can at least catch a meal for my wife and I. I'm not a game hog nor do I plan on giving many away. Just want to enjoy the day and the bounty!

Welcome to the Fishing Stage Alvin Red.
Wet a line, shake it around, pull out a fish! Repeat!
Welcome Alvin, fresh fish caught the same day as when consumed are the best it ever gets. You’re sure in a good area to replicate your crappie limits. Have fun.

Welcome Alvin. What part of Northern Wisconsin are you in? It's beautiful in the summer there. I'm a former cheesehead. Caught a lot of crappies on lakes in Eagle River and Minocqua area years ago. Good info on this site.
All I can tell you is life is great north of 8.
