Hey y’all, I’m recently trying to get into fly fishing and got all my gear recently. Only problem I have come across is I am not sure how exactly wading boots are supposed to feel when they fit correctly. I know the rule of thumb is to get a size up from your street shoe size so I ordered Simms Flyweight boots in size 12. However, when with the stocking foot and a wool sock they tend to have a heel slip. They fit comfortably with 2 wool socks and the stocking foot. I want these to be as versatile as possible including wet wading in the summers over here in Western NC.
So I got size 11s and they fit well with stocking foot and 1 wool sock, but are a bit snug with 2 socks, but can be comfortable if toe box is loosened. Just wanting to know what y’all think as I have no experience with this. Thanks.

Slippage of any degree is going to result in either blisters or taking a tumble, or at the very least, not a lot of confidence in the next step.
While you don't want anything so tight that you are cutting off circulation, snug beats slip, every time. Good luck !
