Ugly Sticks. Well worth the money. Very tuff also. Best rod I know for the price. Lots of options, also.

Almost all big box stores, Walmart, Bass Pro Shops, and others will have an assortment of entry level rods and reels. I believe one of the most recognizable brands that is a good rod for the price is Ugly Sticks! Just Sayin...RJS

Absolutely Ugly Stik. And when you're done fishin you can use it as a buggy whip. Tough as nails.

And they're decent rods for the money. But you have to take care of em. Ugly Stiks, not so much. They'll take a lot of abuse.

Always get a chuckle when I recall seeing some of the first ads for Ugly Sticks long ago, especially the one where the wife was pissed and tried to destroy it by putting it in the trash compactor, thinking "that'll put an end to this"...he later pulled it out and went fishin' !
Friggin hilarious.

That commercial sold a LOT of rods for them. Money well spent on that ad campaign, for sure.

I think ugly stick rods suck , but I gotta admit , they are pretty much indestructible.
I remember that commercial. It was very funny.
Sure got the point across

I use ugly sticks and Berkeley Lightning Rods. Ugly sticks are more durable, I prefer the handling of the Lightning Rods.
