I found a place that sells live fish pretty cheap, like $3.95 for a 6" lm bass and they have all other kinds of fish too so i want to put some fish in my local pond but it's a town park. The place that sells the fish wants me to have a permit to stock the fish. Does anyone know how i would go about getting a permit from the township to stock this pond with some bass and some fatheads for food, any ideas would be appreciated .

Call your City Government office. They probably have a person that issues all permits.

Lee, you'll probably have to deal with the state on that. Contact fish and wildlife, because they have control over everything fishy in NJ

At $4/fish(that need to grow up), a public pond...as in, others will be fishing it, you are quite the philanthropist/optimist, aren't you ? Good luck with that.
Last time we stocked our 3 ponds, a total of about 10 acres, we put in just shy of 3000 total fish, bass, catfish, bluegill, ... pretty sure you can find a better price.... hope so !

I fish this pond alot and i rarely ever see anybody fishing there, the bass that are in there are hard to catch which is probably the reason nobody fishes it, it's about 1 acre and i only want to throw about 15 fish in and i could do that either at night or very early in the morning when no one will see, then in a year or two there will be decent bass to catch, i'm willing to take a chance

I would definitely check on the regs, local and state. The fine for doing that could be very hefty and you could lose your lisc. In MN. you do not mess with the DNR. There is no excuse for not knowing the law. In MN. we can't empty our minnow bucket into the lake or river. The minnows must be thrown into the trash.

It says i need the pond owners signature, who do i get to sign it, the mayor, it's a town pond that nobody uses.

The application is so difficult it's almost like they don't want you to do it.

Figure out a way to become the owner of it. Then there are still laws but at least its yours and less trouble.

Thanks Kandy, I'll do that, i think this is going to be a bigger hassle than me just sneaking them in there at 4 in the morning
