A lot of interesting things on this site. Excited to learn more and share what I know, catch and eat. Would love to hear from any pier or beach fishers in the Tampa Bay area (no boat Yet). New to Florida but loving the fishing!

I ain't never gonna make it in time for dinner, at THIS rate!! (¡Welcome to the Fishing Stage, Matt!)
¿Whereabouts do you live? (NOT asking for an ADDRESS)... I used to live south of Kennedy Blvd., in Hyde Park. ¿Oregon Ave.? {It's been since 1982, so... The CRS is fiddlin' with me, here.}
Also have tied up, down by Hooker's Point, while attempting to kill shrimp.
If you have a motor vehicle, I would recommend ✓ing out "the cut" at Tarpon Springs, around this time of year though, ... We might've gone "a bit past prime time"; BUT, back in the early 1990's, I was tied up at Tarpon Springs, and remember seeing the mullet thick enough to walk on, right there, within sight of the "Sponge Docks". I'm thinking that it was very close to this time of year, as I remember taking a shower with the garden hose, at the dock; that was probably the coldest "shower" I'd EVER taken... (I had no choice, as I was fish-slime from head to toe.)
Be mindful of ✓ing the facts, about that Red Tide we keep hearing about.

thanx Gordon, I would have to say a bit of both lol. Able Man, I'm in Zephyrhills bout 40 min from tampa but hit the gulf at least once a week. I'm told the mullet runs aren't what they used to be but I'm excited to learn how to use a cast net on them soon. I have a inflatable fishing kayak but so far have done better on the rocks n piers just tossing shrimp around structures but I would love to make a boat friend to hit the holes a bit further out :).

Take that kayak and paddle into the backwater shallows throw a shrimp up under the mangroves your going to be very surprised what comes out of there red fish or snook , trout . I don’t fish the shallow water I fish all off shore but my friends do usually always plenty of action in the canals and backwater around new port Richey, gulf harbors .

The mullet are done but the power plant outfall canel is doing some trout. Pinellas is still C&R for Trout, Redfish and Snook.
