With the news today of Sue’s (Saw’s wife) upcoming surgery, I feel it is a good time to open discussions about the M & G scheduled for May 9-15 at Clinton and Perry State Parks. I posted a reply to Steve on the “Surgery” thread and am going to “copy and paste” that here.Family is always #1 priority.
Is this a new injury, or collateral damage from the other fall?
Obviously, this means you won’t be able to come to Kansas in May....? The way that Covid has been progressing (or not) and hearing this week that some states/groups will not even have the vaccines available by then, makes me wonder if the M & G is even a viable option for this May.
What think y’all ??

I am pretty sure that Clinton State Park would give us an equally good deal next year if we decide to postpone till next year.
That is something I can check on to make sure.
Y’all’s safety and health is most important.
Randy

Let me know what y’all think.

Randy, as disappointing as it will be for me, I’m not planning on going this year. I can’t even get together with my family and I don’t when the VA will have the anti virus shots for us. I hope next year the covid will be long gone and we won’t have to contend with wearing those masks.

Personally I think the postponement would be a good idea. There's a lot of covid numbers that are not looking good right now. Part of my wife's job while working from home is to monitor the infection rates etc in the area and the numbers are not favorable right now. What they tried to avoid with the lockdown is now appearing with increases in hospitalizations etc. Too many people are just not using good sense. It might take until next spring to get this whole thing under control, even with the improvements in treatment that has occurred in the last 10 months.

I vote to postpone.
If this Covid mess isn't all resolved by May, most of us stagers are high risk.
When we do a M&G, it'd be nice not to need masks.
I'd like to be able to see your faces, I'm a glutton for punishment.

Kansas is one of the slowest states to get moving on covid.

One thing to consider.

Right now we have the Christmas idiots that had to be partying thus the #'s are up.

The end of this month we will have the inauguration idiots that feel the need to celebrate. Guess what higher #'s on the way.

Next month just got to have those flowers and expensive meal at an overpriced restaurant. Spread the Covid Love.

March madness parties in all the hot spots un controlled by any one smart. Slam Dunk what is going to happen all of March.

April Fools, New strain out there #'s on the rise.

May could bring more then spring in the air.

Bottom line, love to put a face to these words maybe 2022 we will all be wearing the see through face shield.

But still stand by my original post earlier, lets see what happens with the vaccinate push by the end of this month and make the call in mid Feb.

I don't think this covid thing is about to end any too soon, 4000 died of it yesterday, that was a record number of deaths. I think we should wait until 2022.

I don’t understand why people are having such a hard time just being careful. Of course I’m a bit of a recluse anyway but I haven’t had the urge to socialize since this whole mess was given to us. I just don’t go around people much. Never have. Right now I thinks that’s a good thing but I see camping parties all along the River here. Big groups across the lake from me all the time. If people head my direction I just leave. Usually always by my self or with my wife. I’ve only had one visitor I didn’t know in over a year and I feel fine. Whether people believe it’s a hoax or not it never hurts to be safe and healthy.

There’s a couple of people saying they are going that I know are only going to cause trouble. I’d much rather just meet and exchange contact info with the rational guys and gals on here. I’ve already done that with several. One guy even challenged me to bring my fishing gear so he could make me look like and idiot in front of the whole stage. Don’t need that. But I DO hope you guys all meet up with each other one day. The ones you want to meet up with and everything goes great for everyone.

I was not gonna be there anyway, and y'all certainly can do whatever you decide on, but if I had been planning on going I would be changing my plans. Big get togethers like that just not a good idea right now. Be safe.

As I said on the other thread, I think we should postpone it at least until every one could be vaccinated. I think it should be mandatory to be vaccinated to be able to attend.
I understand some might not want to get the vaccine and that is your right. Just know that you'll not be able to attend if you're not vaccinated. Just my opinion.
