I haven't been over there to fish but I would not be surprised if the catching sucks. I have not caught a fish on either side of the Sierras yet this year. Good luck. We've heard from a couple folks on here who said they were headed that way, but none of them have reported back on how they did.

Was headed there about 10 days ago. Lakes were closed due to the smoke from the fires. People at the marina said that if the forest service didn't open up the lake soon that they were shutting everything down until next year. Best call the marina before you waste your time.

Thanks, June Lake loop is back open for fishing, maybe because of lack of anglers the fish might be hungry

There were no trout plants this year because of a virus that hit the hatcheries. Yes, fishing did suck. Rumor has it that some of the marina operators brought in fish from the outside, but that was only a rumor.

Where'd you hear that? According to the DFW site there have been plants. For a while they weren't announcing them, but they were still doing them on a regular basis.

I was told there were no trout plants after the virus hit in the June Lake area. Think there may have been some early in the year

So what you're talking about here is just the June Lake area? Well that makes sense. That's unfortunate. I hadn't heard anything about it.

My Eastern Sierra fishin' buddy of 60+ years tell me the virus is in the main hatchery. Multiple "generations" of juvenile trout had to be destroyed. He thinks it will be 3 years before fishing is back to "normal" in the region.

Just got back from that area last week. Fishing is slow everywhere on the Eastern Sierra. We picked up a 4 lb trout at Lake Mary and caught a number of smaller ones at Benton Crossing on the Owens River. There are still fish around but you have to work hard and put in the time to get them. Good luck.
