Trouble with knots.
So I’ve been having issues with my knots lately. A couple break offs with fish even 1 break off just casting. I’m mainly using the improved clinch knot. It’a pretty straightforward knot to tie so I don’t know what my issue is. Also I’m using braided line could that be the problem? Thanks!

Do you went the line before tightening the knot?

Tying braid can be hard. I use the same knot but only wrap it 4 to 5 times. Less than I do for mono or fluoro. When braid first came out I started doing less wraps.
I'd experiment at home before you go out and lose anything else.

At a certain point tying a knot is more muscle memory than anything else, which can be a good thing, unless it's not. If you get into the habit of making the same mistake repeatedly (over instead of under, left instead of right), you're going to get into a series of failing knots and you might not even realize it.
I haven't dealt with this particular version of the yips before, but if I was I think I might try to reteach myself the basic knots left handed. That would force me to rewatch video tutorials, relearn the motions, and hopefully I'd learn it the right way. Maybe trying to learn it left handed would help me identify what I'm doing wrong right handed.
Speaking of videos, maybe get someone to video you tying a couple of knots so you can compare what you do with what you see people in tutorials doing. Maybe that will help you figure the problem out.

I’ll give it a try. Thanks.

I've never had very good luck with clinch knots and braid. Palomar and uni have been my go-tos.

I’ll look into those knots. Thanks

Did you ever use mono of fluoro and was this an issue if/when you used them? Also, what are you fishing for? Braided line is pretty easily cut/damaged by toothy fish.
If I’m using braid I always tie on a Fluoro bumper using a nail knot or surgeons. I had the same problem you’re describing and That mitigated all of my issues.

Never really noticed it with fluoro. No toothy guys in the water I’m fishing. Maybe the knots just slipping with the braid. Maybe I’ll try a leader of fluoro

Try the improved trilene knot. Easy and works great. I catch BIG fish and my gear never fails. Palomar is also a fav. Check out a surgeon knot for different things. Itll be second nature once you find your knot.

Ditto the Palomar knot for braid, I only use improved clinch for mono or floro.

Agreed. Clinch knot can slip thru when using braid because of the coating on the line. Use the uni myself.
Love the palomer knot for braid, mono and fluro. Super easy to tie with exceptional strength.
