Never got the chance to go out when I was in Florida, as I was too busy working or looking for work, but I did make the effort to learn how to ID most of the common saltwater species available nearby; that definitely looks like a snook to me !

That is a snook and maybe undersized, fun fighting salt water game fish, very tasty as well...nice
