Does each individual need a fishing license when fishing with family?

Hello, I'm looking to get into fishing. I recently bought a pole, and am about to buy a license. I plan to go fishing with my sister, and my question is: if I buy a license for myself, does she also need one? Or could we just go together and the license will cover both of us. If not, could she be charged with a misdemeanor? I'm 18 and shes 21. We live in Washington btw. Thanks in advance!

Everyone that is fishing will need a fishing license. If you are the only one fishing and they are just accompanying you, they dont need one. Hope this helps.

Just in case you ever take younger family members, most states dont require a fishing license under a certain age. You'll have to check your local regulations to be sure though.

You both need one. In most states you need a license if you're 16 or older.

The best advice if you are going fishing ever.

Fishing license is not required if staying in Texas State Park. In fact some of them have loaner fishing rods and reels.

in S.C. if someone goes with you without a license you can have only one rod on the boat. or the other person will get a ticket.

Just for your best interests, never ask anyone on an internet forum for legal advice. Check with your state and local authorities. Fishermen and women are wonderful people who want to help out but they're going to tell you what they THINK is true but may not BE true. Unfortunately, you will be the one who pays for bad information if the local game warden decides to write you up for violating your local fish and game laws. The person who gave you the bad advice for free isn't responsible. Just remember that advice that costs you nothing is probably worth exactly that.
