Little light reading

Thursdays are my wife's "womens bible study" day...

I watch our baby because my mens bible study fell off, so now thursdays are for my own "personal, spiritual, and emotional improvement day".

A little light reading, some prayer and meditation (while my daughter naps, anyway), and I'm also writing a book. I'm in recovery for opioid addiction to painkillers, eventually moving on to harder and more dangerous substances.. I originally got addicted to them because of the service, and how the VA deals with pain(throwing every pill in the book at the problem). I was injured very badly in the service in 2004, disabling me physically AND mentally. I swallowed down every pill the VA gave me. One day the pharmacy made a mistake and I didnt get my refill for a few days and got very very sick with withdrawl. I told the VA this, and they took my pills away saying I violated their pain contract somehow.. I spiraled out of control pretty quickly after that.

However, June 1, 2016 is when I turned my life over to God. I have been sober ever since. I'm writing a book to share the process I myself used.. with the exception of "Celebrate Recovery", the programs do not include Jesus. They speak of spiritual awakening due to the Twelve Steps, and they speak of higher powers, but do not specify. I believe that Jesus is a necessary component to recovery, and i COULD NOT retain sobriety without Him. Therefore, I'm writing it out and including this crucial step.

My wife and I are both in recovery, and that is a miracle to speak about, but another time. I say that though because this is our heart, BOTH of us... to help as many people find lasting sobriety, and help them experience salvation and sanctification, in Kingdom life. If God can save a man and woman trapped in the spirit of addiction and turn those two junkies into God-fearing mature Christian's to be married, have a child, and still find room to share our experiences to help others, then ANYTHING WITH GOD IS POSSIBLE!!

Thanks for reading, and getting to know me a tad bit more, and I hope you all have a great and wonderful day!

God bless and keep you and yours as well. I believe service to be in direct ratio to our success in life, as well as recovery.

Denny, it is shameful what the "system" does, especially to our servicemen and women. You have found the right anchor and He will not let go of you. God bless and keep you and yours always. I pray for your continued healing and ultimate success with all you are compelled to do. I have just seen a couple of articles that say Christianity is fading in this country. We must all shout loudly in protest of these lies. The gates of hell shall not prevail.....

D L from this post and the one earlier in reference that you and the wife communicated last night, is definitely a sign that God has a plan for you and as Graywulff says above " he will not let go ". This moment of peace will have more trials in the years to come, so Please keep that communication, Love, and Baby in your arms and press forward.

I am a believer in Angels and have seen the signs of their existence and you young man, each have 1, all working with you, so please never give in.

Graywulff, I agree 100%. Thank you and GodBless. I also agree with you, that we need to speak up more.. I am starting to see things get worse and worse, and I look at our daughter and almost shiver... I feel so bad for her generation, because things are just getting worse. However, His light shines on her and I believe in the life we are setting for her, and I thank God that He loves us so much that he enabled us both to be proper parents and a strong examples of Christ. I believe in Kingdom Living, and we strive to continue and strengthen our Spirit-man and relationship with God. Thank you for your kind comment.

The loudest statement you can ever make requires no words. Just live your life. Others will see the difference. #1 secret to a good marriage, open communication! No secrets. None! I wish you all God's richest blessing.

Thank you PB, I believe this whole heartedly as well, and I'm striving for "return to joy" stuff to help me with my anger and ptsd issues.. I have issues on issues, and those issues have issues lmbo but very serious. My emotions ran me for a very long time, especially when I was in the thick of it all. Angel's and God Himself delivered me from my demons, and built me back from the ground up.

The main issues between me and my wife is all trama-related. I have to constantly remind myself that Trisha (my wife's name) is NOT my trama. Nor is she ANYTHING like my ex, who hurt me badly. Telling myself these things grounds me out, but I still have baggage and so does she, so we spar every now and then. But the communication piece is new...we are learning. Thank you for your sound advice, when you and a couple other people comment on here I really take hold. Thank you for that. The world is short on good people with caring advice.
