Surf fishing at night
Anyone have experience surf fishing at night? I’ll be around Myrtle beach SC area specifically. I know some people catch red drum off the piers around here at night. Just wondering if it’s worth the trouble to bother surf fishing off the beach at night?

I know plenty of guys that target big sharks from shore at night down here in texas. I can't say for your area but I know down here we get plenty of bull reds and uglies

You can but the challenge is seeing what you are doing. Most beaches have a lights out law that goes from may-october for the nesting turtles. With tide changes it makes it tough to manage your gear in the dark. Piers are a great option or wait for a clear night and a full moon for better visibility.

Depends on the location. Hatteras and most of the Outer banks have no light's out laws. Best bet is to google and check the with the DNR office to ask directly.

As I recall, Dec - Feb, mid winter is best with cut mullet for Reds.
Fun but have lights, sharks are big time nighttime visitors. Best not to wade to help catches and watch for turtles. Best rod is a white rod, easiest to see.
