Yak for under $600?

Looking for a sit on for around 600 bucks, live on the west coast of central florida and it will mostly be used on the coast. I'm not a large guy, around 6ft 190lbs, good dexterity.

The field and stream talon is something I can get locally and is in my price range. Highly sceptical about buying used so I would like to buy new.

I haven’t used mine on anything but ponds, but I have the Ascend 128T (6’, 260lbs). I’d look at the 12T. I’m sure there’s other, better yaks out there and someone else will have better info but in my limited experience I really like the Ascend yaks

The talon is a good kayak for that price range, but heavy. If you’re dragging it a lot or cartopping, it gets a little old.

Super stable though, and tracks well. I’ve fished out of one a lot.

If you have a Gander near you go check them out. Up in MI they have the entire store 50% off.

Tamarack 100 from wallmart for $250. I'm 6 foot 285lbs, bring another 30 pounds of stuff with me, pushing it 40lbs over the 275lbs weight limit and still works great.

Only mod you need is to drop in a stadium chair 17-20inches wide if you plan to use it more then 2 hours or your ass and legs go numb af.

When it comes to kayaks seems to me that used might be a great deal. There’s not much that can be wrong with them.
Most times sold cheap due to lost interest.
Just my thoughts
Good luck and post photo when you get it

Agree a used kyak in good shape is the way to go.

Not sure what there is to be skeptical about. It's not at all complicated, basically a couple of pieces of formed plastic, joined together. A nuclear submarine is complicated; a kayak is not. But it's your money.

I use a talon as well. Got mine at Dicks for $300. Has a good stadium style seat. However a must mod is to put a couple hatches in. One in the bow and another in the stern. It provides much needed storage plus you can access the bungys if needed to be replaced. I made a cart for it and it is easy to launch. I also use my Lowrance Hook 4.

Sorry I it is not a Talon, it's a Lifetime Teton. Very comfortable seat and coming in at just over 10ft. Suitable for streams and sheltered fresh water.
