Been awhile for me. I went to a wedding in Washington state recently and managed a little fishing for smallmouth on a fly rod. My first time and such a blast! Caught some on top water using poppers and some on big streamers. Then on my way home stopped and fished a stream that I have driven by a hundred times and always wanted to stop. Well if you know me, summer is dry fly time in Montana. I was sure surprised at the quality of the fish and native westslope cutthroats too. First place I stopped was a big, deep run going under the highway bridge and I was standing on big huge boulders. A nice trout hit my fly, and I battled him for awhile but it got off. No net, and couldn’t get it up to my hand or into slow water. Next place I stopped was very nice wading, and got many hits and looks, landed this beautiful native cutthroat, and lost another that ran downstream too fast for me. I was so glad I stopped, but still had 3+ hours to drive after. Thankful for the long summer days as I made it home before dark.

Alright Tim, way too go.
Always nice to fish a place you've always wanted to stop, AND, be successful.
Congrats brother, nicely done. 🤠👍

Thank you Steve. Too bad I didn’t make it that far south on that trip. Tahoe in August maybe…keep you posted.

Your mind was in the "right place" to squeeze in some fishing while taking time out to attend that wedding! The planning paid off with some beautiful fish...and what a thrill to be catching them on a fly!

It was fantastic Tim. There's some daily posts by Jason, and I did a wrap up post. Check them out.

Nice job Tim. Where about in Washington, that’s my home state. We went back April of ‘23 for a wedding… but no time to fish visiting all of our family.
