Hi everyone!
Fairly new to fishing. Love fishing for catfish. It's difficult as I don't know where to go. Any help would be appreciated!!

Are you kidding?
Try the John Day river.
Good channel catfishing just below the narrows.
Also, the John Day upriver where 218 crosses it.
Lake Umatilla has a thriving population of channel cats, as does most of the Columbia and Snake rivers, with the Snake River having great fishing for flat head catfish.

Umatilla River just west of the 730 bridge, south side is excellent for channel cats, a few blues and yellow bellies (mud cats). watch out for sturgeon, they'll take your gear. All hours are good, night fishing with a lantern by the water is fun for the family. Try to find "Pride of the West" fish batter mix (best) or Louisiana fish fry.
Bottom fishing with bait (Sucker belly, chicken livers, bought bait, pickled herring (-sturgeon favorite) or lures if you want. Catfish are the number two salmon smolt predator. Good luck and tight lines.
