Fish finder transducer question

I am currently running a lowrance hook with a triple shot transducer. I almost ripped it off the boat today. (Hit a stump) My question is, do all the newer finders/graphs have such big transducers? I'm currently looking for some newer units but not wanting to have a log hanging off the back of my rig. Looking for a unit with good down and side imaging with a smaller transducer.

The length is due to the multiple coils used in the side imaging mode. Other brands might be a little shorter, but still longer than a traditional transducer.
Transducers are not interchangeable between brands.

Not only do they get bigger with more functions they are more fragile.

I guess they still sell guards for them.
Some guys have made their own guards outta heavy aluminum or stainless 👍
