That should be a fine fish fry for your BIL andy, Iโ€™m certainly not real familiar with saltwater fish but they look like to be built like redfish but I see no spot an their tail.

Think they'll still be around in July? Going fishing in Venice with an old tennis friend that moved there.

We call them whiting. But they have a few other names.

Sea mullet, whiting, Virginia mullet, and up north, kingfish, bit those are a slightly different first cousin.

Whiting are one of my top five tasting fish to deep fry. The taste and texture are very similar to flounder and taste almost as good. Freshly caught are always the best tasting but these fish freeze very well also. When we get into the 16"+ size they are really fun to catch on medium light tackle. If nothing else is biting the Whiting always, well, nearly always, keep us entertained and we know we are gonna have a fish fry fit for a king. Great looking catch!!!

Here's a good article that clears up the confusion. https://saltwatermecca.com/mullet-vs-whiting/
