Have you noticed in the recent news originating in Manhattan the news reader plainly says the forest fire smoke generated in Canada is causing harm to America? No, not New York State, New Jersey, or any of the several of the eastern states, but America?
Can you imagine a fire in Mexico causing harm to America? The whole country, not just Texas, New Mexico, or Arizona? I find it a little strange and creates a sense that the rest of the U.S.A. or the other 80% is either not, or less important! It is almost like “send aid to America you other 49 state because America is suffering from Canadian smoke”!
It is my opinion this certainly generates less sympathy or caring. Has this new “America” gone to the U.N. for help, of financial assistance?
Do I care about what happens there? Yes, of course but I am not impressed with the choice of words used by the news reader. New York and New Jersey are not all of America, neither is Texas or California.
I solicit your opinion.
Do you think I am treating New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania unfairly or have they stepped over the line with a poor choice of words in the news reports? Just Sayin…RJS

Placement and blood lose count in analogy. Move the knife to the major blood vessel in the knee and it may kill you.

A lot of sayings sound good but not always true. Not removing a tumor is an example.

Yes, I would hurt. I would feel a lot of pain, but I would be very specific when describing it to a Medic or Doctor. Just Sayin...RJS

Wife watches the news on nbc in the mornings and I have noticed that when the weather is covered most of it is for the Eastern US. I would guess that most of the people working at nbc are from there

I do agree with your observation Mr. Samples. I live in north Texas. I know people from NY and the NE, and I can tell you clearly that the the ones I know espouse and support an attitude that they are the core, heart, and principle body of the nation. It seems to be in their DNA that they are the most important and legitimate part of the USA and the rest of the land mass is the "hinterlands". They continue to promote the idea that they are socially and intellectually a couple of notches above the rest of the US population. They only lately seem to have become concerned with the invasion of foreign people because the southern border states began sharing the burden with them, and they are irate about it. However, after the fact, they do want to emphasize their relatives came through Ellis Island and met all the requirements for legal entry. I just wish people could desire what is fair and rational versus what is convenient and comfy for themselves. Ultimately though, many from that geographic area do, in my opinion, think they are the USA!
(I hope this doesn't offend the people on the forum that have a different perspective. If so you may express your opinion freely. We have a lot members from the northeast and I may have stepped on some toes. However, I'm a democratic type of person, so if you wish, you may express your point of view also.)

Thank You for your permission to express myself, but that is unnecessary. That is covered quite nicely by the 1st Amendment to the USA ( all of us ) Constitution, except for where it's been preempted by the so called hate speech laws.
I respect your right to your opinion, but must respectfully state that it is a bit off the mark. It is unfortunate
that you have not had a better experience with your acquaintances from my region.
I submit that you might need to choose them more judiciously.
