We found the grass and the Mahi
North Carolina Fishing

We got out of Oregon Inlet, NC Tuesday to fish for tuna and dolphin. Some boats went out Monday and found the fish. The north easter had kept the boats at the docks for over a week so we got lucky. We had 4-5 foot swells but very little chop. After a 45 mile run we dropped the lines in to target tuna with Bonita as bait. After a half hour trolling, the chatter on the radio was to come out to the grass line. We changed bait and gear over to Mahi. Caught our limit and headed in at 12:30. Great day.

Thanks guys. We had a blast. Diner last nite was delicious. Charter boat Tuna Fever. Always puts us on the fish. Wish we could have gotten into the tuna but the big numbers just haven’t come through this year. And a lot of the tuna that were caught were eaten by sharks before they could get them to the boat.

Super day. Sheared yellowfin is my favorite, but lacking tuna, Dorado is top on my list. That being said, I have never caught one. All my deep water fishing trips have been the taking turns approach. I would get a sail fish and the guys before and after me would get dorado. Life is tough.
