Well, it seemed like a long time with the long wet spring and lack of sunshine. I was lucky and got a 23.5" that Saw1 just slipped his head in the net when my swimbait (that the fish destroyed...lol) popped off. Was a surprise that he wasn't bigger. Fought really well and we were in a bit of current so he definitely didn't want to come in.

I'll let Saw1 finish the rest of the story.....

Hey guys. We got out on the river bout 0745. Fished out at our regular spots and never got bit.
Decided to take a run to a slough we don't fish very often and had to wait for the water to drop bout a foot to 18 inches more to fish where we wanted to.
As soon as we got there, I cast a Hairraiser Jig out near shore and was immediately hit.
Landed that one and it was bout 21 inches so we put it in the livewell.
I was really hopeful that the bite was gonna be red hot. WRONG !
That was the only fish I caught and I missed all the other biter I got, bout 6.
They just didn't want to commit.
Ben finally caught 2. The first one was a 23+ incher and it put up a good fight. It wasn't quite close enough to get into the net and I was struggling to get it when the lure pulled out.
The fish was half in and half out of the net. It was balancing right on the hoop of the net and I couldn't reach out any further.
I was tryin to bounce it into the net and FINALLY, I got enough of it in that I pulled it closer and was able to get it all in the net.
A little later Ben caught another one that was 20 !/2 inches. So we ended up with 3 fish for the day, all keepers.
We got off the water early, bout noon, so it was a nice mornin.

Nice catch Steve, and good job getting the reluctant one in the net. Glad to hear they are picking up a little anyway, and NO skunks on the boat today. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, we had fresh Striper last night and it was GREAT ! And that's comin from a guy who doesn't like the taste of FISH !
Takin all the rest out to "1old timer", Old Jim, and his wife. He's 98 and they both just love Striper as well.
