I'm building and installing a motor mount on my 10' kayak. the motor will sit on the right side of the boat and that will mean that I will have to compensate for the tendency of the motor to push the boat to the left. (I think. I'm not even sure about that.) Any body have an idea about the best way to do this? Would mounting a skeg on the opposite side from the motor help? What about adding a rudder? Just practice and get used to it? Appreciate your ideas.
Any chance of putting a picture of your kayak and the motor mount on this site? Kayak fisher myself and it would be easier to take a look at it.

Yeah, I will take some phots and post them. Not sure how to do that, but I'll figure it out. I've encountered a snag in the fabrication process here, I fell yesterday and I just found out this morning that I broke my leg- fibula up by the knee. So I'm gonna be out of commission for a couple of weeks at least. But my grandson has agreed to join the party, so between the two of us............
OUCH!!! Forget the pics concentrate on getting better. Can't use that kayak for quite some time anyway.

hey there plumbob - I got the motor mount built and I'm going to be taking the whole shebang out to a lake tomorrow or Tuesday. I will post some pics. Since I live in California it has to me registered in order to operate it. ANY motorized vessel must be registered. Well, I'm not gonna do that til I see if it's gonna sink or not and how it tracks and steers. If all goes well I should be legally on the water for a total investment of less than $600 in about a week. Not too shabby.
