My top preferred bass bait is a chartreuse and white 1/2 chatterbait, followed closely by a Whopper plopper.

- ⅜oz jig with creature bait trailer of your choice.

- Finesse-style worm on shakey head

- Senko-style worm, Texas rigged

- Creature bait, Texas rigged

- swimbait

In that order.

Not knocking the stick bait but if they are being finicky a stick bait will sometimes work. If not I’ll drop to small bits bugs or ned rigs

Chatterbait is my go to search bait/early morning bait. When it slows down I'm throwing a football head or a t-rigged ol monster

watermelon super flukes fished with or without weights
When using weights it is only a split shot placed 6 to 10 inches above bait
second choice would be watermelon or chartreuse centipedes fished with the split shot
I feel that this lets the split shot move on the bottom ,maybe stirring up the sand, grass or whatever, and the lure rides a couple inches above

The senko is probably hands down the most effective bass bait ever invented ( and all it's copies) most hardcore bass guys feel defeated having to resort to them... but I promise there's a bag on just about every bass boat on earth!
#1. Jerk baits
#2. Top water anything
#3. skirted jig + Trailer
#4. drop shot
#5. Weightless flukes/ soft jerkbaits.
