It's to keep your line from going back on to your baitcaster

How does it work? Do you tie your line to it and when u reel that pointy end is what stops the line from retracting onto the spool?

It prevents the end of your fishing line from going into your baitcaster. I use it for reel storage.

Tie a simple overhand knot in your line and then put the line through and pull it into the wire to pinch it in place. When you store it this way you can take the hooks and lures off your line but not have to restring your line through the eyes next time. Very handy. I use them all the time.
