Welcome to the Stage. The Canal can get crowded. There are a lot of regulars that fish there. Some do not take kindly to strangers. Be respectful of their space. Do not litter, in fact, take a bag and carry out extra. Be aware of and follow angling rules precisely. The regulars will report poachers. The current can be very strong so be aware of your drift. The regulars can get cranky if you tangle them.
I’ve never fished the Canal. This is just stuff I’ve read from other fishermen’s comments on various forums so take it with a grain of salt. On the Water magazine regularly posts articles about fishing the Canal. Have fun.
