Went fishing π£ in Manasquan Inlet this evening on a cold, sunny day with a strong southeast wind and incoming tide. Was fortunate to get one of the last unoccupied parking spots. A NJ State Police helicopter was looking for a whale π in distress when I arrived. Hooked a nice bluefish on my sixth cast of the day, but it threw the hook just before I was going to lift it from the inlet. Caught, tagged and released a 20β bluefish on my next cast. It had my plain hook Ava A-17 and bottom teaser in its mouth. Then I caught, tagged and released a 15β fluke four casts later. After no hits for a very long time, I caught, tagged and released a 15β bluefish with the Ava. Just before I quit, I hooked a bluefish triple but 2 bluefish bit off and escaped with 2 teasers. I tagged and released the Ava fish. The pattern for the past 3 days was early action, no hits for a long time, then the blues started biting again just before I left. Caught 39 fish π£ in the inlet in 14 trips this year.

Pretty cool you got your Ava back bands, that Manasquan inlet can be a hairy ride when heading out at high tide.

I can only imagine. Sounds like your speaking from first hand experience. Will get the courage of a sea man and sea legs after a few of that sort of boat ride. Have Fun and stay safe.

Went to manasquan inlet this morning,on my 3-4 cast caught a blue about 3 lbs, fished from 8 am til noon, that was the only blue I got, not even a bite after that. The guy next to me,caught a 31 inch blue, he was using a weighted white rubber shad. It was a hit or miss, seems like they catch more towards the dog park.

Thanks for the report. Iβm switching over from tide fishing π£ to evening fishing Tuesday. Keep posting. I learned a lot from your posts.

Two fishermen from Philly died from cardiac arrest in the inlet after their pontoon boat capsized on Black Friday a few years ago on the low tide.
I may fish the high tide on Tuesday myself. Maybe more towards the evening will be better, only one way to find out. Come Monday,Memorial Day, you'll be lucky to find a spot to park, hopefully it'll be better on Tuesday. Watch out for the cops, they'll be enforcing the parking I'm sure.

Glad that you had a good day,Bands. Are you getting any Winter Flounder up that way this year?

I never fished for winter flounder but caught a few by accident on lures a few years ago. Party boats are catching them in the ocean now.
Thanks. I have heard that the fishery is depressed.
