Thanks fellas for the comments, I agree a stiffer tip is necessary so I need to put the trout rod away and get the bass rod back out. I watch the pros in tournaments set that hook with real purpose.
No one mentioned the one nose hook, would more hooks work better? Like I said you wouldn't fish a crankbait with just a front treble so that's why I question it.

No treble hook worming .
Off set hooks bigger gap hooks you can never set a hook to hard on a Bass you want to drive that hook in !! And if they swallow the hook just cut ✂️ the line to the eye of the hook. So the don't bleed. BERKLEY makes a great rod called a Lighting rod it's a great rod for under a $100.00 they make two models one for braided line and mono I have the baitcaster and spinning rod (bought one also for my grand son) and they have one for mono.I also have one had it for years.
They are great and act like a 200.00 dollar rod and I own expensive bass rods.you do want a bass rod with back bone for setting the hook but also with a fast tip so you can fell the pick up .
Like I have many bass rod s for different styles and techniques for bass fishing.
If any more questions send me a PS and I'll send you my number.
Good luck
We neve r learn this in one day and I'm still learning and I'm 71yrs young, and Bass fishing is my passion.
To me bass fishing is like big game hunting except your hunting under !!
Have a great holiday and a safe one.

Yes I have a large assortment of worm hooks and use quite a variety, just questioning the single hook in front configuration.

Well, I nose hook Robo worms sometimes if I'm Drop Shottin.

Do you have success with that set up? It never occurred to me to try nose hooking on a drop shot.

That's the only way I use to fish a drop shot rig.
I quite often still hook a small swimbait that way and it can be magical.
I usually whacky rig worms now on that rig.

LOTS goin on.
Goin fishin tomorrow just to get my mind off ALL the stuff I've got goin on.
Just bein out on the water with a friend is very helpful. And like you said. Even if you don't catch any fish.

I think being on the water is a very relaxing place. I know just sitting on the shore fishing is my happiness!

I use a lot of Senko's when fishing in Lake Havasu. I like to use the wacky worm style with an "O" ring around the center of the Senko. The local tackle has the proper size rings and a tool to help you get it on the Senko.

I use a circle hook between the ring and the Senko. I don't use any weight unless I'm fishing in current and I don't try to hide or make the hook weedless. Cast it out and let if free fall to the bottom and then gently bring it back to the boat and pause it every foot or so. If you feel a tap or pressure, don't try a strong hook set. Instead just gently raise your rod tip or let the fish take it.

Circle hooks are designed to hook the fish in the corner of the mouth when the fish turns with the bait in it's mouth.
Using a strong hook set with a circle hook will prevent the hook from setting.

A friend and I caught 120 Large Mouth on Lake El Salto, Mexico in a 6 hour period using this technique.

Good luck

I agree with all you have said. One easy thing that was pointed out to me was to use the very small "zip ties or also called cable ties" to tie around the senko. A lot easier and less expensive. Just my nickels worth.

Wow AZ, that's quite a day! Good tips but read my story from this morning catching a big one on a wacky rig. I have the rings and tool and used it this morning.

Typically a fish is going to attack the front of a bait unless you are trolling or ripping a lure through the water so a hook in the front is preferred. Additional "stinger" hooks can help with hook sets but they detract from the natural action of creature baits and rubber worms.
Another consideration. Braid line doesn't stretch and can make up somewhat for a limber rod. I've caught plenty of large mouth bass with Carolina rigged lizards on medium - light action rods and prefer the fight much better on the lighter weight rods.
My most memorable battle was a ~30 lb flathead catfish on a 5'6" UL trout rod with 6lb braid. The fish hit a crappie jig while fishing from a canoe on Bartlett Lake.
