Last Thursday it rained, some places 6 inches,
That usually means it'll flood.
The River is Roaring,
Don't wanna sound boring,
But when I looked north, it's just mud.
I figgered, like last year, the lake would rise fast,
With sticks, logs n leaves floating by.
But to my surprise,
A joy to my eyes,
White River was blue, like the sky.
This storm cell ran north of us, south didn't flood,
So out by my dock looked ok.
The lake's up bout 5 feet,
But clarity was sweet,
Had to fish on this beautiful day.
Runnin the boat on high water's scary,
So I made a short, careful run.
My worm, bass were takin,
No records were breakin,
Another blessed day in the sun.

So you know you Really need to start a book of your Pometry. I guarantee a book titled β€œFishin’ Pomes from Tablerock” is a best seller in the making!

Keep that worm wet and the pomes coming.

Tight lines
J

Agree with others. Most of your pomes are print worthy. BTW is that what rednecks call a sh** eaten grin?

Well, Mr. Cook, it's a grin brung'd about by STS. Sore Thumb Syndrome, from catchin too many basserinos.

Oh that hurts. Miss my 14 years in Austin, TX. My wife had no sympathy when I doctored my "bass thumb" and told me to quit fishin. That ain't happening! Now I have some arthritis in my right middle finger ( yes that one) from spinning reels. And in my left thumb from baitcasters. The gals except maybe Kandy and Maid Marion, have no idea what we fishermen have to put up with to keep these old bodies on the water. It's a cross we have to bear.

What a Great day you made for yourself, with a decision to wet a line, and tell the story with a rhyme. Nice pictures too!
