I will be fishing a club tournament on April 8th and I have never been to lake James before. Can anyone help with a fishing report for bass on this lake?
Welcome to the Stage. I am too far away. On the the coast here. Good luck and please post pics. We do love pics. You can google the lake or call a near by tackle shop. This is now. Lake James has a population of hefty smallmouth
North Carolina fishermen don't have to fantasize about leaping smallmouth bass from northern waters or distant Canadian lakes. They can catch quality smallmouth up to 5 pounds at 6,800-acre Lake James in the Foothills west of Morganton.Choice of bait is live gizzards and Shad.
Hi skip i grew up in Marion and have fished the lake my entire life and i am 57 the catawba side has more large mouth and can sometimes get a little color when its been raining the Linville side is mostly smallmouth and can be clear most of the time there is a good topwater bite in the mornings off main lake points for both species early spring a bass assasin works well also worked around docks and visible cover if you need more info just let me know and good luck and tight lines!!!!!
