The all American fishergirl with the only fish we caught yesterday: 7.5 pound invasive bluecat in the Wicomico River. We also tried the Pocomoke in Snow Hill w/o any luck. Really slow fishing. We tried for crappie and perch. Not a bite. Couldn't even catch a sunfish. Hey, you don't need fish to go fishing.

She almost always does. You should have seen her catching the two largest halibut on the boat: 121 and 130lbs. No one else came close.

Blue cats are VERY good to eat up to about 30". Anything over that and they have a lot of heavy metals in them and we won't eat them.

That is very dependent on where they are caught.

The ones here in Maryland are very good. I don't care for fish, but I have a marinade that I use before frying them and it's really good. Blue cats here don't have that "muddy" taste that Channel cats have. If you clip their gills it leaves a very firm white fillet.

You can get some free blue cat fillets at the Blue cat Tournament in Sharptown md. at the wight in sometime in April.

We get all the Blue cats we could ever want Andy. The main stem of The Choptank is alive with the damn things. When I am asked for some, we get Gizzard shad and catch some. Seems the legislature is dragging its feet on handing out the licenses to sell the fish to the packing houses or I'd be out fishing for them as hard as I could.

You would think they, who ever they are, could make a market for them. Find people somewhere in this world that would eat them.
