Personally, I'm tired of seeing this picture in news articles relating to flood victims. Unlike the homes that were flooded due to levee breaches (natural and acts of sabotage), these homes were built in the riverbed (between the levees that contain the San Joaquin River during heavy runoffs).

These houses are built on stilts for a reason--the water rises to this level every time we get heavy rains.

In my opinion, they're not victims. They obviously knew the risks when they chose to build in the riverbed.

out our way the farmers on the flood plain have lifted there houses up like that and during floods they park their cars on higher ground and boat in and out of their house. Some use to have pullies in there ceiling so they could lift their furniture up if the water got to high. but as you say they knew the risks when they decided to live there and have figured out how to deal with the yearly floods. Most of the time they do alright just the occasional bad flood that they get hurt by. Sort of like the people who live on a steep hill side most of the time they have a good view but then and again there is the mud slide that can take out their house, not for me I'd rather live high and dry on flat land and know I am safe instead of by a river or on a hill side but to each their own

If you view using Google satellite map, you can see what it looks like during low water levels.

Were you in Manteca back in ‘96 when the levee broke and flooded the whole south side, south of 120 and parts of Lathrop… 🐟on

Lathrop has been doing a lot of work on their levees.

I wish I could say the same for Manteca. I'm on the south side of 120. There's been quite a few boils spotted on both sides of the Airport Rd bridge.

not makeing fun of people was just responding to YOUR committ "let's go fishing" I do feel sorry for those dealing with flooding even those who were farming on that old lake that you said shouldn't be complaining.
