Well, the 'go-to' weapon I would have used if I had felt threatened is in the side pocket of my chair. It is a 9 mm semi-automatic Sig Sauer and it is loaded, but no bullet in the firing position. I would have to 'shuck' it once to be able to fire. I never felt threatened. I now wish I had spoken to her and seen what response she would have made, if any. Just Sayin...RJS

Between the time of Adam and now, Lilith was thought to have been responsible for causing young men to have erotic dreams!

If I take that literally, I must still be a young man!

Kinda funny that all you bible-studying folks are just now learning of Lilith. Probably unfamiliar with the book of Enoch, as well.
As the son of a United Methodist minister, who schooled not only his children, but his parishioners as well, in all things biblical, I was aware of Lilith long, long ago. It must be noted that my father did NOT dwell on the "sexual position" aspect, hardly at all, but rather, used it as a metaphor to explain the inequalities of the sexes in past times, and how/what/why we should endeavor to right that wrong, in today's society. A man of such righteous convictions, long before it became mainstream, or even mentioned by many theologians and pastors. And decades before the idea became a popular talking point or reasoning for rallies or amendments.
Apparently many of your clerics chose to ignore or hide these writings, (as did the clerics of King James' era !) perhaps trying to ignore or avoid the informational answers necessary to give a fuller picture of "man's existence according to the Bible".
While I personally don't believe that the "first man(or woman)" was "created from dust", wholly formed as the homosapiens we are today, there is, again, a metaphorical (and actually scientifically correct, if you adhere to our being evolved from single-celled entities...amoeba-like="dust") reasoning behind the more familiar writings.
Dad always said that the hardest folks to preach to, and truly "make a valid point with", were the highly educated and skeptical. The easiest were children and the "pew-sitters" who attend solely out of loyalty (habit ?) to their families' traditions. Not a thing wrong with having that "tradition", just kinda sad that they aren't clamoring for more precise "details", along their bible-based journey.

Interesting dream or experience, RJS. Betting you're grateful to have woken fully and remembered, partially anyhow.
Thanks for sharing.

FixorFish: Thanks! Yes, I have been familiar with the concept of Lilith for a long time. Women have been subjected to a male dominance all through history and since I have two daughters and two granddaughters, I always believed in a 'fair shake' for females. Just Sayin...RJS

I think her name and story has become a bit more familiar in the past couple or three decades.
The brilliant show writers of "Cheers" aptly named Fraser's wife Lilith, and if you are familiar with her character, she assumed "the mantle of Lilith" with aplomb.
And then there is the huge music festival, the "Lilith Fair", started by Sarah McLachlan and friends as an attempt to bring empowerment to women through a big arena event featuring female bands, (I hear that occasionally there's a smattering of "guy bands", these days).

I have much empathy for the....ladies, gals, women, females, 'sisters', whatever they choose to call themselves these days.....and the fact that women doing the exact same job as their male colleagues, receive something like 74% as much as the men. That has to go away.
I have 3 quite outspoken sisters and my only child is a daughter, who, 24 years ago, was a state debate champion (why oh why, do they actually TEACH teenage girls how to argue BOTH SIDES OF ANY ARGUMENT ?).
So I have been privy to hearing many discussions amongst women and what rights they feel are lacking. Their points were well taken by me, my brothers, their husband's and pretty much anyone who heard them. And they are hardly alone in their thoughts and wishes. And rightly so.
I do urge the business world to comply with their wishes regarding "rights" and pay equity. The Congress's dragging of their feet is inexcusable, along with whichever state or states that refuse to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment....shame be upon them all.

I will hop off my soapbox now, and simply urge all men to treat your sisters, wives, girlfriends with the respect they deserve and do your best to aim for equality on ALL fronts, not just the payroll disparity or who does the dishes or laundry.

To that end, and beings how Valentines Day is just around the corner, I intend to take that "total equality" thing to the max, since this will be our first V.Day together.
The gal I am dating will get a fine dinner, that I am more than willing to spring big bucks for, BUT......there had better be some dark chocolate for ME from her, and she knows damn well, that my favorite flower is the Calla Lily !

Top...bottom...who cares ?
It's all good.

FixorFish: Yep, position is not important unless one or the other chooses to argue about it.

Who knows, Adam might have done a better job if he had a wise help mate to bounce ideas off of her. Just Sayin...RJS

re read the genesis account carefully no 1st wife no sexual positions all that is made up. sorry eve was created to help him and all was very good including eve until she gave into temptation and disobeyed God and then Adam listening to his wife also disobeyed God which resulted in punishment and curses. you can be a dreamer of dreams but there is a difference between dreams and reality as you know

You are most welcome to refute the historical record, if you like, DC. Makes zero difference to me. Even if you are unfamiliar with how "the Bible" has been translated numerous times, as well as "edited for...acceptable for the masses" many times.
(Which "Bible" do you use ?.....King James, Revised Standard Version, New Revised Standard Version, Good News for Modern Man, or according to the inventory of our local mall's "Evangel Bookstore" another 180+ Bibles...in stock, can certainly order others !

Personally, I am hoping to live long enough to see much of the Dead Sea Scrolls translated. The ones completed thus far have several instances of "correcting" some of the mis-translated passages (on purpose, ordered to do so by a King or Pope ? Or simply by a transcriber not using the truly equivalent translation ?....my favorite is "virgin"...my Father explained that the word was actually "maiden", which simply meant Mary hadn't been sleeping around before Joseph, as was common in the day...wholly unacceptable to the Catholic hierarchy, trying to message to the masses they wished to continue to control.)
And if you insist on taking as literal, all you read in YOUR Bible....why leave out how it was, that Adam apparently lived the rest of his life being maimed ? Can't remove a rib from one side and expect to "be okay", can you ?

Just because YOU are oblivious to something, hardly gives cause to simply dismiss as "made up". I don't think you want to go down that path.....with me or any educated person, theologian or otherwise.

Furthermore, I AM a "dreamer of dreams"....a 20+lb Steelhead, a 1937 Cord roadster, a fine house on a waterbody, the forever love of a good woman, the ultimate chair design.....so very many and diverse "dreams"...that likely will never come to be, but I remain hopeful !
Absolutely nothing even remotely relevant to anything in any "bible" is on my list of "dreams", I adamantly assure you. (Edit: I would give my left nut to see THE ENTIRE 8 BILLION ON THIS PLANET embrace AND PRACTICE 24/7/365...THE GOLDEN RULE !!!!)

Although I quote this song lyric far too often, DC...seems beyond apropos to your statement above....
"You ain't gonna learn what you don't want to know"....
thanks, John Barlow, for penning "Black-throated Wind" for the Grateful Dead.
