Steelhead Fishing in Western Wa.
It doesn't look like too many rivers are open to fishing steelhead this year. I would sure like to find out where I can go that is closest to the Olympia area. Any help would be appreciated. The Washington game regs are more than confusing.
Thanks,

Thanks,
This is the peak of the winter season here in Oregon. I don't know Wash. but have watched videos of steelhead fishing on the coastal rivers near you. The hatcheries are kept and run by the local Indian tribes. They usually have lots of fish. This year in Oregon though there are very few fish in the rivers right now. It may be the same up there for some reason. Here is a link I found for Washington steelhead fishing.

Download the "Fish Washington" app on your phone or tablet. It is very helpful and easy to use. You can pick you river zoom in on it, then tap on it and the regulations and different boundaries come up. Then as you scroll down the first thing you will see are the "Emergency" regulations which supersede the regulation in the printer pamphlet. Probably the closest for you from Olympia would be to head to the Cowlitz, Lewis, Kalama and other rivers in SW Washington.
Thanks for your reply. I will watch the video
Thanks Jim, I will download the app.
Jim is right on, always check the emergency updates.
Google the blue creek hatchery boat launch. Wouldn't be to far of a drive from you.
Thanks, I am going to give that a try.

Yes the cowlitz or the kalamah is another option.

Yes, the Cowlitz and the Kalama Rivers are on my list to try. Thanks for your reply.
