Eat this. I know I did do and will. Not from lakes lined with foam with warnings posted. This pfos/pfas has taken our mind off DDT mercury etc

My main fishing river and lakes along it have been contaminated by Wolverine, the makers of hush puppies. The waterproof used contains pfos and for years drained directly into my favorite water shed. I still fish there but don't eat them.

Exactly. Good Info. So in other words the guys in 60s-100s that ate fish frever may not have been exposed to chemicals until more recently. Many of the chemicals may only of been made in last 10-30 years. If not made maybe not used until more recently. Trying to educate the hard headed is impossible. Ability to detect many chemicals is newer technology as well. Many never wore a seatbelt but now they do because the car makes noise not because it's a good idea. Smoking tobacco never used to be dangerous but many that quit feel better and will probably live longer. Many can get sick from something that may never effect someone else but knowledge is a good thing.

Jeremy, Don't get me wrong, I am not pushing the study to the side. What I am asking again, is what can I eat. I am diabetic with high cholesterol. I have reduced my weight 30 pounds over the past 6 months, at the Dr. suggestion. My doctor along with input from a professional dietician put together a diet includes lots of fish. It is a major source of protein in my diet. What can I eat that is not also considered potentially cancer causing.? Will the cancer risk from fish be greater than the health risks from overweight, higher cholesterol and much higher A1C? These are questions seeking real and specific answers.

If you trust him/her, ask your doctor for their input.

Everything in moderation nothing in excess. I would much rather eat a fish I saw when it was alive see how clear its eyes are how strong its body is if they're sores on its anything and it was alive yesterday. I don't know what you're getting in the fish market so much of it is mislabeled I don't know how long is sat in the bottom of a boat after being caught how long till it was gutted. Did they soak it to take away order slime age

Your questions are most real. I expect the only person(s) to provide answer are qualified professionals (MDs, etc.). As just an old fisherman; at this point in my life (7-decades); I would personally choose to focus on weight, diabetes and cholesterol. Appears to me these are issues for which you have most control. Re: food-chain contamination; they are not going away. You have less control of these. A Nutritionist would be a good consult. Be well.

This is not a new find. Our waters are better now and more fish have returned to where they once thrived . 50 years ago I used to say about eating sturgeon," I am not going to eat something that was alive since the industrial revolution. So much dumping let the next city downriver worry about it. I know where some discharge tubes are and stay upstream.

I remember arouind 1971 a co-worker came back from a walk during his lunch break and announced that the sound was clearing up. He saw a ship's screw for the first time in he didn't remember how long. Clean up efforts are helping but there is such a thing as Prudent Avoidance. Think about where you fish and act accordingly. Worrying about everything is probably worse for you anyhow. Fish are good for us so I'll keep eating them along with other meats.

Scudrn it was my doctor in conjunction with a nutritionist that set up my diet. I eat lots of fish on my diet. I was just wondering if Jeremy knew of something I could replace the fish with that wasn't bad for me since he seems to believes fish is a direct road to a coffin. I am always open to new ideas if they can be supported.

baba, if you saw his posted pic from last month you wouldn't be taking dietary help from him. Quite the gut on him.
