I know some guys that rig them in the "Stupid Tube" format. That's Texas rigged, like a worm, with no weight. You can also rig them on a weighted Swimbait hook, with the point buried in the tube. Either way can be dragged through the weeds without getting snagged.

I try to keep jig inside if it's rocky. Clean bottom anything goes. Have fished a tube like a jerk bait. Best thing about molding my own tube jigs I can put a bigger hook on smaller weights. Have tried swim jig on tube yet. Make those also. More things to experiment with this year brother πŸ‘

You might try Tacklewarehouse.com
They have a very large selection of hooks, jig heads etc both plain or weedless.
Plus their prices are very competitive.

Tubes are very versatile. Saw one show where they was vertical jigging tubes. Bring the jig up in the middle n it will hang level. Lots on new things to try this year. Like catching more fish this yrs πŸ‘πŸŽ£ got my BPS master catalog today.

I know Dan. The single wire snags almost as bad as bare hook. I have the twisted wire but never tried opening them. I'm keep that in mind. Also have use the Eagle claw unweighted weedless hook. Put a bullet weigh on the line. Then thread line through tube. Attach hook push it into the tube bring the guard out the top. Then peg bullet weight or let it. Many ways to rig a tube including wacky rig. I haven't tried it yet but I will. Saw a video on it. πŸ‘

My concern about not using a jig head is that the minnow imitation plastic will not keep a horizontal position needed to imitate a minnow. I fish crappie.

Dan I found out this yr how much I like the underspin jig head for swim baits. I make my own swim jigs but I can't make under spins. Do you use bettle spins for crappie ?

When they work it is my preferred method. But most of the time the fish don’t want them. Also like to throw jigs without spinners. But for me it is rare to catch them that way. Cork and jig works best in my area.

I've never enjoyed good crappie fishing around here so I don't know what works best. Farm I ran had a nice pond with some crappie. Good eating πŸ‘
