Welcome to the Stage Robert. Happy New Year and Tight Lines.

Hello Robert I recently moved near Byram from TX. Have fished the Ross Barnette spillway a couple times for catfish. Not much luck other than a few small channels. Still learning the patterns, and never fished a spillway before and have already learned I need different gear for this type of fishing. Do you fish the spillway, would really like to pick your brain if so.
I’m thinking the Pelehatchi bay areas is good or even go to Brown’s landing next to Highway 43 for the catfish.
Thanks, I will have to check out those areas soon since the spillway is moving too fast now. Is it pretty crowded at either one of those areas? How often do you catfish?
I have not gone in quite some time now, because I’m involved with repairing my small house boat! Replacing rotten exterior deck, inside ceilings after reroofing it of course! I’m also working 40 hours a week at y job. Not much time for much else until I achieve my personal goals with my houseboat.
Understood, sounds like a lot of work but will be well worth it without a doubt. I have a few projects as well but I do take a day or two every now and again to keep my sanity. A day fishing or going to the shooting range does just that. Wish you luck with the project, when you finish it or just decide a fishing trip is in order to decompress, post a note here and may be I can meet ya out there. No such hing as too many fishin buddies!
Hi ranger Bob welcome to The forum. I would be interested in knowing any information you have on stripers. Any information you can give me about the reservoir or the spillway area that'll help me on my quest
Your might look at the Ross Barnett group on Facebook. There are quite a few folks that post on there. I have been seeing a lot of people fishing below spillway catching limits of nice crappie.
