My buddy took the binos to the store and was told they discontinued that warranty program when they were purchased by BPS in 2017…however, they honored the replacement with a ONE TIME ONLY deal. He has a new pair of binos as of 5 minutes ago!
Thanks to all for backing me up!

Thanks for the update, John. I have been a Cabelas customer since 1961 when they opened, and I have never been disappointed. I have never had an issue.

I can’t say that I have been a Customer that long (I was born then 😂), but I will say it has been at least 40 years!
I wonder if this is one of the changes since Johnny Morris and his Bass Pro Shops bought them?
Just glad it worked out for Tom and he thanked me for my insistence!

I don’t often use “the Customer is always right” stance, but right is right! You buy a store that sells their name brand merchandise…you buy their problems, too!
Glad it worked out for him!

That's great John. As much as I admire Johnny Morris, not only for promoting conservation among anglers, but also for his unwavering support of the military, sometimes corporate takeovers do harm to both entities. Glad your buddy came out on top.

The burning question. Does the replacement have a warranty? I bought my rifle scope at a retailer, but the gun and optics have manufacturers lifetime warranties. Big retailers sign contracts with manufacturers to put their name on them.

yes I found out that cabelas no longer honors their warranty on things purchased before bass pro shop bought them out which is a big knock against bass pro shop. my wife had bought an expensive coat that was suppose to have a lifetime warranty when the seams started to come undone she took it back shortly after the buy out and was told they would no longer honor the warranty. I use to buy so much stuff from cabelas I use to say I was going to just have my pay check direct deposited into their store. now I hardly ever buy anything from them. figure they lost far more by not standing behind their warranty than they would of by honoring it

More than likely a limited warranty, but time will tell…

Luckily for me, I have more than enough stuff of theirs. We both took chances on buying their Cabelas brand binos as we compared them to everything else they had. They were impressive, but now I hope mine last.

Thanks Fred, I hope I never find out that I need to replace mine!

Maybe you need to take yours back now and get a replacement before yours break.

Very glad to hear the positive outcome of this scenario! That will be good 'PR" for Bass Pro Shop...which is a very nice, widespread store chain!

Yeah but super BAD PR that they don't honor a Warranty that was by the same chain. My opinion is who cares if Mr and Mrs Claus buys a company or if JOE Blow buys it. The worst thing they could do is NOT honor any and ALL warranties. The manufacturers they contracted with is who warrantees the stuff anyway. I don't care much for Cabelas or BPS.

I had a Credit Card from them many years ago. I paid off my account like I always do with any credit. Well they closed my account. Well they made up my mind really quickly. I never went there again except for gift Certs I received. I have so many places to spend money if I really want to so why would I support a company that does this. Hearing and reading this gives me more reason to avoid them.

Absolutely OJ. I can tell you the Cabelas in Hamburg PA is much better stocked than the BPS in Harrisburg. Ask Slim he went with me. I never saw that much inventory before Morris took it over. I managed a 7/11 for two yrs after I got out of Marines. I'll guarantee you the customer isn't always right. Plenty of stories. Just one. This old guy walked in n started cussing me. Saying I called his wife a lair n he wanted his refund. I didn't sell what she said she bought there. Many more. Shoplifters n help that stole more than the lifters. Thankless job 🤣🤣
