Griz, now that you mentioned it, I remember so.e opening days like that also. Walden Pond in Concord, MA was always packed.

My late buddy told the story of a guy who snuck onto his Uncle’s land (in the dark) and setup right below my buddy’s ladder stand. John was already in his stand, watched the whole thing and waited a few minutes for the guy to get setup and once he was settled in, John leaned over and shouted down to him “HOW DO YOU TAKE YOUR COFFEE?”
The guy couldn’t get out of there fast enough 😂

As a kid, my father would get me up at 0 dark 30 to get a spot on opening day. Fish a couple of hours, and then go to the Rod & Gun Club for a big breakfast. I think that was the best part of the day. A lot of kids from neighboring towns to hang out with, then fish the club pond. Oh the memories!
