Took my three grandkids fishing again at Petaluma river for striper Friday....launched at Gilardi's and started trolling white hair raisers and rattletraps by the red barn.....only caught 4 but had many bites...took and hour to catch the first two and is the custom of our boat we get a twizzler (red vine) for our good luck...went another hour and no fish so my granddaughter suggested we have a twizzler to bring us luck...30 seconds later bang...fish on...I know but it gets better...we go half and hour and nothing so grandma says maybe we should have another twizzler to which all three kids agree...I am handed a twizzler and about to take a bite and...you guessed it...bang the biggest fish of the day...nice 25 incher.......twizzlers????? spooky.....

Downstreamer, in my boat it's usually lighting up a Marlboro. If that doesn't work, eating my sandwich with a line in the water usually does the trick. I'll have to try some Twizzlers next year.
I agree...every time I try to eat my one and only sandwich I get a fish on and somehow it gets smashed in the fight!

The same good luck charms work coast to coast.
dbed
Loc: POMME DE TERRE LAKE MISSOURI
I better get some twizzlers
My vote is for the sandwich (usually while I'm assembling it).
I’m gonna pick up a jumbo pack for our striper trip tomorrow morning. If they work I’ll chew on the idea of always having them aboard. 😂😂😂😂
I may have to experiment with black licorice as I am not a big fan of the red vines…but, I won’t rule them out if the black ones don’t bring me some luck!
Thanks for the tip!

Twizzlers, may have to give them a try. We usually start talking about the latest home project and then we start getting bit.
Pretty convincing, two in a roll in pretty cool.
It appears I need to add twizzlers to my tackle box
