Is the lead on a three way? Usually, we need 8-12 oz balls here for salmon. 8 on back of boat and larger on bow if fishing 4 or more rods.
No,its not on a three-way. This is for fishing in the Sacramento River--I only need it to get down 10-20 feet. The weight is only a 2 oz banana for 10'--15' gets 3 oz--20' gets 4 oz.
For the ocean I use a double-stacked 5 lb down-rigger plus 2 side-planers with 8-16 oz of bananas.
I don't like losing my big balls every time I get a strike (especially when its a short one).
Also, since I fish off a kayak, I have put a little extra kink in some of my dodgers to compensate for slower speed.

We fish in that depth. I will figure it is inline? Salmon can see upward so if above them it's really ok but usually want it to go right in their face to bug them like a person in line at a restaurant that does NOT respect your personal space.

The bananas are inline about 6-12 ft in front of the dodger which is at the same depth as the weight.
BTW - I practiced social distancing long before COVID.ðŸ¤

I'm joking about how salmon bait should be put right in their face.
