Great catching guys! I hear ya Denny, I'd like to find an accurate land forecaster myself. Your conditions look beautiful! Enjoy the feast. Thanks for the great pictures.

Thanks Fred, the local TV inland forecasters get it right most of the time, but that doesn’t translate to the ocean conditions. I guess there’s still a bit of uncertainty there when combining atmospheric info and the buoy data, I really don’t know. Guess I’ll just keep taking the forecast with a grain of salt and continue to “poke my nose” outside the gate and see for myself.

Nice trip nice catch y'all. Plus some good eating. I went crabbing a few time but we ran a 1000' line baited with chicken necks. I got good with the net 👍🎣

Thanks Grizzly! Interesting method of crabbing, I assume when you brought the line up you’d net the crab near the surface that came off/let go of the turkey nets?

Denny is that your Mr Captain Clamp on / CLAMP OFF ritual? Really cool you got the neat boat and all the great times already. Memories are building. Be cool if you make a picture collection of all the success and the air show etc.

Good Job

Thanks Jeremy, yup good times for sure, I do have an album entitled “Fishing” that I keep all my pics in, you’re in it from Clear Lake! I really don’t know why that spot produces. I think the slower day was do to the bait being past it’s prime. The 2 loop nets with the fresh Striper carcasses produced better at first. I’ll know next time I’m out there whether we’ve fished it out, I doubt it. I do know “I’m not leaving fish to find fish”, Saw1 taught me that!

Another day of crabbing, this time with Ben (Fishermanleesonoma) and Hal (Nook). I/we were a little concerned with the marine forecast for the day, 4-5’ wind waves, 15-20 knot winds and gusts to 25 knots, small craft advisory. We baited the pots at the dock and headed out just after sunrise. Bay was relatively calm, good so far, under the gate was good, lighthouse - not bad and then….. it smoothed out to less than a foot of chop, no wind, swells almost nothing. I mean, what the? The whole time we fished it was one of the nicest days I’ve been out. Think I’m going to research for another marine forecast site to use.

We did pretty good, had to work for it, took 3 sets of our 7 pots to get 26 dungies and 13 rock crab. Not complaining, I just got spoiled getting my limits each time on 2 sets. We think maybe our bait was getting a bit stale. Hal was at the wheel and did a fine job of cruising up to the buoys, Ben was the hook man and we both did “pot puller assists” and I set and pulled the pots on board and sorted out the keepers. A good team!

Back at the slip at 12:30!

Nice. It sure does look calm in the photos. Don’t you just love those forecasts? You never know unless you go out and see for yourself. Enjoy your crabs fellas.

Also not leaving the bugs to find their cousins. It is a great way of looking at it. Thank You for always sharing it all with us.

It surprisingly was Fourchon, if we had limited on the crab early on we would’ve gone rock fish fishing, but 3 sets and not yet a limit, it was time to head in and try to beat the holiday traffic that had already started.
