Well guys, we got to the river bout 0830. Got to the fishin grounds bout 0845. Trolled for bout 20 min and I finally hooked up with a heavy fish. It took bout 40 feet of line out before we could get the rod out of the holder.
I was tryin to reel it in and it was takin drag and fightin really hard. Finally, I tightened the drag a little so I could reel it in.
I fought it for bout 2 min and gained close to 100 feet of line. I still had 140 feet of line out when, BAM, it pulled off. I will admit that I said"SON OF A B----". I was really pissed at mysely for doin that. I really know better and I should have played it properly and got it to the boat whenever it was ready. OH WELL.
Started trollin again and bout 10 min later Ben hooks up with one. He's reelin it in and says it doesn't feel like a Striper, just really heavy. Well, he gets it to the boat and pulls up a big Striper and I net it real quick. It no sooner gets into the bottom of the boat and promptly brakes the line bout 2 inches above the lure. Good thing I got it in the net on the first try. It was 28 inches long and bout 7+pounds.
We started trollin again and I hook up with another one and get it in the boat and it's 21 inches so we keep it too.
Start trollin again and couple min later I hook up again but this one was a short.
We've hooked and landed 3 fish within bout 15 to 20 min. and it's only 10am.
We start trollin again but no more fish for the next 30 min. Finally Ben hooks up and lands another short.
It's bout 10:30 and that was the last fish we caught. Had a couple more hits but no takers.
We kept tryin till 1pm and finally called it a day. Got off the water and was home by 2pm.
I took 1 pic of Bens short and then a pic of the keepers.
Gorgeous day but was pretty chilly this morning.
It was 30* when I hooked up to the boat and was a balmy 38* when I got to the launch at 0830.
Thankfully, no wind early. Picked up a little bout noon but wasn't bad.
All in all we had a pretty good day. 5 fish hooked and 4 landed. Two keepers. Fished for 4 hours.

It gets that way probably everywhere Steve, but you don’t know how to spell “stop going”, and that’s what makes you who you are Brother. Tight Lines...

Was that you in the Arima boat leavin Papas?

There was another little Boston Whaler type boat that passed us around Papas. That might have been you too.
BOTH boats were headed downriver from Papas when I saw them.

Well son of a bunch I hate it when that happens also Saw. The same thing happened to me the last time Bob n I went striper fishing. I tighten the drag to pop zman outa some rocks n didn't loosen it. When the biggest hit at the boat n flipped I think to tight drag helped him toss hook. Like you I was irritated at my mistake 😒👍

Sorry brother, I'm so deaf that I never heard anything you said.
I did wave at your wife as we passed her standin on the dock. It was right afterwards that we hooked that fish.
Where did y'all end up trollin? How far down river did y'all go?
Did y'all just catch the 4 keepers or more?
What do you use, we use 1OZ Rattle Traps 180 feet back bout 4 to 5 mph.

Yep, was a nice day even if the fishing was a little slow. We did have some nice action early on but just kept fishing because sometimes it just nice to keep your line in the water! Felt bad for Steve, sometimes they just come off and felt pretty lucky to get a nice one not too long after that. Thanks Steve for a nice day on the Petaluma River!

Man I wish I was closer. There is a few rivers in this state with Stripers. I would totally be a Striper ADDICT if I lived near you all.
