Finally decided to try to chime in and say hi.
Very interested in learning what I can about Surf Fishing year 'round in the Charleston SC area.
What is biting when?
Migration patterns of what is moving through.
What tactics work best with which tide?
Keep the hooks in close or cast to the horizon?
Welcome aboard. Right now you should be catching spots. They have passed us. Choice of bait is fresh shrimp and the red bloodworms. You don’t have to cast to far out. Also the mullets are running fresh shrimp and the green fish bite shrimp. Use a #3 XL shank. It’s easier to get out. Bottom fishing. After the cold sets in and the water temperature is down trout will run strong on either tide. If you are pier fishing go to the back. Also when the trout run look for a strange film in the water. Somehow they give off a film which is very clear to see if they are close enough. I am not sure why they do that but an old gentleman told me it’s to attract bait.
