So exciting!!! Today I was fishing on the white river for trout in Cotter, Arkansas. I was able to catch a beauty but it jumped and spit out my hook! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Trout Capital USA T1, beautiful area to fish and enjoy the big spring. I have caught some really nice fish in the area around the Cotter bridge. I was just over in the Horseshoe Bend area and was able to fish the Spring River over by the hatchery a week ago. Caught some nice bows there too so if you get the chance to fish there, expect some fun. Thanks for the pic and keep your line wet.

I am fortunate to live here so I fish over near the dam quite often as well as Norfork. I couldn’t figure out what kind of fish is caught and was surprised to learn there are golden rainbow trout and blue rainbow trout! I am originally from the south suburbs of Chicago.

I am planning on coming over in January time frame to fish your some of those big brown trout. Am experienced trout fisherman but never fished the White River. Any recommendations?

Definitely need a river boat to fish for brown trout. I’m a bank fisher so I only catch rainbows so far but still enjoy the sport and eats? Some of the guides use skulpins which can be caught in the lakes and rivers. Good luch

I have fished White Hole access at Fairview, Wildcat Shoals at Cotter, Buffalo City access, the handicap access upriver from the convergence of the White and Norfolk rivers and also the access where those two rivers converge. I have caught great sized browns, rainbows, and brookies at all of these places that are all within 30 minutes of Mountain Home. I have always caught fish using the White River Rig with power baits of different colors and tipping the hook with corn, wax worms, raw shrimp, or a small piece of night crawler. I also have had great success with Blue Fox Vibrax lures without hair, Thomas Bouyant Spoons in brown trout color, Little Cleo's, and silver and gold Kastmasters.
I would also suggest you try guided trips in a boat but wading at all of these places will produce fish.
