The Pyramud Lake Lahontan Cutthroat Opener started on October 1st. It was my furst kayak fishing experience since i had my rotator cuff surgery back in April. We went up with a few kayak anglers with the Fresh n Salty Kayak Fishing Group that I am in. Good times! I caught the biggest fish of the day to win a special Giro Custom Lure set made for targeting Lahontan Cutthroats but can be used for other species as well. It was valued over $100. My fish measured in at 28". I had to gave my BFF, Christy, reel it in for me because my shoulder was sore from the initial fight of the fish. :-) The biggest fish caught that weekend was a 32" beast, which was caught on the following Sunday. Your daily keepers can consist of 1 fish over 24" and 1 between 17" and 20" or 2 fish in that slot. I caught mine using Blade Runner spoons, jigged on the bottom from 30' feet down and as far down as 70' feet. Great food, great friends, great time!
My winning trout at over 28"
Lots of fish over 20" caught!
Giro Custom Lure Set presentation for me
I caught a few measuring 26"
My 2 keepers for Saturday.
I cooked up some Hawaiian Huli Huli Chicken for the group for dinner afterwards.
Huli Huli Chicken
Sunday morning, I made Dutch Oven Huevos Rancheros
Kayaks on the shore Friday night, prepped for Opening Day the next morning.
Some friends with their catch.
Congrats on your prize, great fish and thanks for sharing!

The funny part (to me, anyway) is that I have had that nickname for almost 50 years. My parents called me that from the sidelines during whatever game I was playing…long before the famous one killed his Ex Wife and her boyfriend.
Great pics, too, and the food looked delicious as well.
More pics from Pyramid Lake opening day. North of Reno, NV.
Julie Brown with her 1st and biggest fish of her life!
Eddie Fatch and his catch.
Brian Collard and his Sunday limit. I took him deep and gave him one of my jigs. We had our limit within a 1/2 hour. 1 in the slot and 1 over 24".
Good times!
The fly fishermen and their ladders were getting them too.
Until Next Time! Tight lines!

That is funny. :-) As long as whatever you did, made them proud ;-)

Thanks, Farmer Tom.
Some advice. fish on the bottom, from 20' to 70' (if you have a boat/kayak, that would be best) We jigged 1oz jigging spoons down there. Use at least 8lb test fluoro/mono. They really aren't line shy, so you can use braid to the lure.
If trolling, use Mag Lips or Wigglers.
