When time's were tough mother might have a little sausage, bacon strip or a little ham, a cup of flour a little milk or just water. She'd make biscuits and shit on a shingle. We have plenty of food now, fish in the freezer..but still fix shit on the shingles all the time!

Corned beef is ok… from spam but the ham is a bit Hawaiian….. I’m not real fond of the ham from spam. Other full sized can hams are better flavored

SOS, or otherwise known as Chipped beef, was something I enjoyed during my service. I’ve only seen it once on a menu outside of the military.

My dad had two jobs when I was little he worked full-time at Domore office Furniture manufacturing and nights at Piggly wiggly, he usually bought the little gars of chipped beef for momma's SOS her biscuits were amazing. It was my chore to look after the chicken coop, gather in the egg's, kill, pluck then clean the bird's for momma. I will tell you, the kid's at school think they eat as good as us country kid's, they wished they did. My mom cooked the best pintos in town and cornbread. Every friend who ever sit down at our table was blown away by mom's wonderful cooking. Sometimes all the meat she had was hamburger meat she browned and made SOS from it.

I still like spam. Fries spam and eggs is a great breakfast. Home made corn beef is great. What you get out of a can is not so great.

Try corned beef and potatoes fried with onions and jalapeños.
