This was in the Charleston news paper today. I fished off the 2nd. Street pier last month. Don't know where people will fish up there now. The law says you can't fish within 50 ft. of a person in the water. If you are fishing and someone comes up to swim you must quit

WOW quite a lot of damage. Unfortunately, it will be a while before pier work is done first the roads need to be repaired. Go out in early morning, 8:00am and will be able to surf fish for quite a while before any "Beach Goers" show up. Are Pompano a surf fish there?

We're you down in Florida when this hit or up in Virginia where it is now?

How long have they been there Gordon. I would think depending on how long they would have stood up to a Cat 1. But obviously not. Every storm is different in one way or another.

The only one I seen was 2nd. Ave. It looked used but fishable.

Thanks Gordon, wonder what the extent of the refurbish was. If all post weren't replace 70+ years on 2 of them may have had something to do with it. But the Apache only 23 years just shows the force behind Mother Nature.

That's a shame. I sure hope they repair them. Remember many years ago up in Old Orchard Beach Maine where we went as kids in Summer the pier got smashed. It had Merry Go Rounds and such on it. Great times as a kid. They only rebuilt about 1/4 of it.

Up here the police chase swimmers and surfers away from our fishing piers. I am not certain if this applies to smaller piers Perhaps only to those where fees are charged to fish or crab.

They have signs on the beach telling you the distance from the pier you can go in the water.

Some fishermen are kind of ornery and will cast their line at them.

Was Going down there to king mackerel fish next week till the storm damaged the piers. Checked on the surf fishing liscense and found that South Carolina is just a bit greedy. They want 35 dollars for a 3 day out of state permit. Maybe I'll just drive up to NC to fish.
