10/2/22 The Green Bucket. It was raining so I didn't feel like lining them up for a nice picture. So I left them in the bucket. Tried something new this morning. I fillet one crappie and made crappie strips. And it works, but not as good as gulp minnows. Good to know when I run out of the Gulp Minnows.

Gotta figure they're cannibals, just like their LM and SM cousins!

We don't eat crappie. I give them away most time or release them.

Andy if you like white perch which I know you do and yellow perch also you will definately like Crappie. Bluegill are also very good too.

We use to eat bluegills. They were the best. But we don't eat much fish anymore. Just perch now and then. Thanks!

I've always used the strip of meat (cartilage ?} in the center of the lower jaw bones to tip my jigs when crappie fishing. Removed carefully, the piece of meat has 2 pointy ends that were closer to the body, and it moves nicely in the water. (not to mention that it smells good)

Hey BF, that's thinking outside the box! Thanks for sharing your tip. I'll have to try it sometime. So just to be clear, 1) it's a crappie you're getting the strip of meat from, and 2) it smells good to who? You or the crappie you're targeting?

I got crappie strips in a little jar right now in the Fridge I caught yesterday. I'm going to see if the white perch will like them on a jig head. Going this morning in a little while.
