Went carping in 62 degrees Colonial Lake this evening during Hurricane Ian. The lake was a cold, muddy flood. Weather was drizzle with a nor’easter. Didn’t see anyone. Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught 2 bluegills and an 8 lb com carp with canned corn bait. Landed 60 carp this year.

Good going Bands. I couldn't do that down here when Ian hit us. 85 MPH winds. I'll get them next week. LOL
Wow, you could cast far with the wind at your back. I fished Santee Cooper a long time ago and really enjoyed it. SC was great.
I heard they are all muscle. Nice fish.

No, I never caught a trout there. Caught a bullhead on opening day of trout season. Caught 2 yellow bellied sliders last year.

Yes, I ate one once and it was loaded with small bones like trout and salmon.

Had a woman at work whi cooked them in a pressure cooker. The bones got soft like the ones in a can of salmon.

Wow, I didn’t know that.
She also did it with them boney Shad. Not bad.
Her's a tip, if not the best one. Carp are good eating if you know how to cook them. Being brought up in a boney eating fish society, I have had plenty of practice dealing with the bones. However, one way to enjoy carp is to cut the filet below the lateral line (that's the line that tuns down the side of the fish}. It's wasteful, but the boney upper flank might make good snapping turtle or crab bait.
