I’ve decided it’s time to put the canoe in the water that’s hung in a garage for 70 years. (Dads for 50 mine for 20)
I’ve got a 6 ft bed in my pickup with a trailer hitch. The canoe is a 16 footer. Any suggestions for a trailer?

Would a bed extender work for you with the tailgate down? A couple ratchet straps to secure it, and you’ll be good to go!

Thanks Dave. When I was younger lifting it wouldn’t have been a problem. Thinking a trailer or hitch extender might be easier for me.

Yeah, I thought about that when I was suggesting it. I personally would go with a hitch extension. No license, registration or maintenance… 🐟on

Look around on Craigslist or FB marketplace for one. You can find small light duty trailers for cheap.

Mau they make a support bracket for just that. It fits in the hitch n extends beyond the laid down tialgate. Harbor freight has them. 👍👍

I built my own rack for my pickup truck just for my canoe, though I use it more for work than I intended. Fits the canoe perfectly

They make a bed extender for around $50.00 or so ,that fit in the hitch and its bed height. Amazon has quite a few.
