Hi all,
Just retired Ironworker. Moving back to the farm to help my dad. California to Arkansas. We got 3 farm ponds with Bass and Sunfish. I have fished these ponds for years. 5 # is the biggest Large Mouth taken.

Welcome to the Stage Jack. Farm ponds can be incredibly fun to fish. Tight Lines and don't forget,we love pictures.

Thanks for the reply π
The smallest pond (1/2 acre +-) needs some maintenance to remove water plants and trees to get more sunlight on the water.
I can catch fish regularly, but they are small. Still fun with light tackle.

If you harvest some of the smaller ones, it will help the others grow bigger. One of the best things about undisturbed ponds, is that the fish are unpressured, and will hit almost anything. Don't remove too much water vegetation, as it provides oxygen and cover for the fish. Good luck.

Jack! Welcome to the family! Before I moved back to my "home" lake here at Table Rock, we lived on a farm with a beautiful 5 acre pond. 1st couple of years, I beat the snot out of it, throwing all my favorites and only occasionally finding a dinky bass or bluegill. Then one fall day in 2020, I knew I was in heaven, living with exclusive access to a hog hole. That day, I caught 2 black bass over 4#, a couple smaller ones, a 2#.crappie and a big channel cat, all on topwater. Catfish will hit and scare you bigly, I found out that day. Have fun!!
Thanks for the pictures
Looks like fun
Welcome! A good natural feeder may help as well. Take a 4x4 post and drive it down in the pond as far as you can. Nail a piece of meat (any meat) to the top on the post. As it decays, flies land, lay eggs, maggots fall off into the water and boom, natural feeder. Enjoy your fishing, Cabot Arkansas here.
I love pond fishing in Western Virginia
Just sold my nice fishing π£ Suntracker Claytor Lake is so hard to fish π Too much Native Food from the famous North bound NEW RIVER feeding into it. Just my opinion π€·
Nice fish !
Beautiful pond there too.
I have plans to explore the bigger reservoirs in the area.
I understand that the Little Red has some fine Trout.

We are staying on the little red right now at JFK park. Caught these Monday afternoon. Wife caught the big brown and two rainbows.
